This was a major remodel of a modern 50s style home. The remodel took place in 3 stages, with the backyard and deck being the final stage. The goal was to try and keep the modern 50s spirit of the house, while completely remodeling and relocating the kitchen, as well as adding square footage. 

 

Initially, this house did not have a backyard due to the downward slope in the canyon. After implementing the use of caissons, we were able to create usable outdoor space through two separate large decks, as well as adding an infinity pool.

The house is located in a beautiful canyon setting which we took advantage of by using big windows and glass doors to capture the panoramic views.
